Blissgig's original purpose was to be a social network. Most social sites are defined on the basis of users connected with other users. While this is a good way to connect people to each other the idea behind The Social Site was to connect users to each other by events. Users can connect with each other by events, event types or tags. Users can create events, tag existing events and review events that they have attended. The pattern of events the user has attended, the ratings and similar patterns by other users allows the user to connect to future events and other users based on these patterns.

The data model and pattern weight code was sold for non-exclusive use in 2008.
